Bio:
With her first word being “apple”, Kristyn was destined to be a registered dietitian and nutritionist. Over the last 15 years, Kristyn has worked in community nutrition and in public health, helping people across the life span – pregnant women, children, youth, men, women and parents. Her degrees in nutrition and psychology, her culinary education and experience, along with training in solution-focused counselling and motivational interviewing, have helped Kristyn coach people about food and eating to help them feel better. Kristyn is an experienced writer, publishing evidence analyses in Practise-based Evidence in Nutrition [PEN] on diverse topics including infant, toddler and preschooler nutrition and physical activity; infant colic; pediatric obesity intervention; safety of soy across the lifespan and safety of soy in preventing, treating and after a breast cancer diagnosis; and lactose intolerance. She is the Editor of PEN eNews. She is also PEN’s social media lead where she plans, implements and manages PEN’s Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts. Kristyn is a consulting dietitian and nutritionist with Nutrition and Culinary Solutions, where she provides nutrition and culinary solutions for health and wellness. She leads out hands-on culinary nutrition cooking classes, inspiring clients to make food that nourishes their bodies. Kristyn “lives it to lead it”, eating delicious and nourishing food to fuel an active lifestyle. Kristyn has completed 10 km road races, the 2011 Rockies Gran Fondo cycling 100 km through the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and has run three half marathons. She is a busy mother of two very active boys.
