Growth monitoring and the promotion of optimal nutrition are critical aspects of health care for all children (1). Growth monitoring assists in confirming a child’s healthy growth and development and assists in the early identification of potential nutrition or health problems. 
Growth faltering (previously called failure to thrive) is a term used to describe a slower rate of weight gain in infants and children compared to those of similar age and sex (2).
