Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common gastrointestinal (GI) disorder (1). Symptomes include chronic and recurrent abdominal pain, bloating, distension, cramping, constipation and/or diarrhea and flatulence. The exact pathophysiology of IBS remains unknown.  Causes of these disturbances may depend on the interaction of several factors including genetics, psychosocial factors and post-inflammatory changes after a GI infection (1)
