1. Recommended Weight Gain for Multi-Fetal Pregnancies
Recommendation
Gestational weight gain (GWG) that follows the Institute of Medicine (IOM)’s 2009 recommendations may reduce the risk of adverse effects in multi-fetal pregnancies. Most evidence has been conducted in twin pregnancies.
Inadequate GWG may increase the risk of preterm birth (<37 weeks), very preterm birth (<32 weeks), low birth weight, small-for-gestational age and NICU admission in twin pregnancies. There is a lack of research in multi-fetal pregnancies.
