Rice is consumed by over half of the world’s population as a staple food with 90% of it being consumed in Asia (1). Arsenic is on the World Health Organization (WHO) list: “Ten chemicals of major public health concern” (2). Arsenic in its inorganic form is a class 1, non-threshold carcinogen (3).
