Importance of Topic to Practice
Entomophagy, the practice of eating insects, has been performed by humans for millennia and is common in many countries worldwide (1). Interest in edible insects from North America, Australia and Europe as a cheaper and more environmentally friendly alternative to animal-based protein has been increasing since the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations released its Edible Insects: Future Prospects for Food and Feed Security Report in 2013 (2,3).
