Wheat Sensitivity One Step Closer to Being Defined?

Posted: 2016-08-05
Dr. Peter Green and a team of researchers recently confirmed that there are objective markers of "systemic immune activation and gut epithelial cell damage" in people who have a sensitivity to wheat without having celiac disease. This study will hopefully stimulate more research to be conducted to assess the use of these markers in identifying individuals who are affected and/or their response to treatment, to further look at the underlying mechanisms and molecular triggers responsible for attacking the gut, and to investigate new treatment methods. See the study: Intestinal cell damage and systemic immune activation in individuals reporting sensitivity to wheat in the absence of coeliac disease.
