Polycystic ovary (or ovarian) syndrome (PCOS) is a syndrome of unknown etiology typically characterized by hyperandrogenism, anovulation and/or polycystic ovary morphology (1). Clinical features include reproductive issues (e.g. reduced frequency of ovulation and irregular menstrual cycles, reduced fertility and high levels of male hormones such as testosterone), metabolic issues (e.g. high levels of insulin or insulin resistance and abnormal cholesterol levels) and psychological issues (e.g.
