An IP address (Internet Protocol Address) is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you are using the Internet. Web servers - the big computers that "serve up" Web pages - identify your computer by its IP address. We collect IP addresses for the purposes of system administration, to report aggregate information to our institutional customers, and to audit the use of our site. When visitors request pages from PEN, our servers log the visitors' IP addresses. We do not normally link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, which means that a user's session will be logged, but the user remains anonymous to us. We can and will use IP addresses to identify a user when we feel it is necessary to enforce compliance with our Terms of Use and License Agreement or to protect our service, site, customers, or others.

Please be assured that we take your concerns about privacy seriously, and we make every reasonable effort to protect it. To that end, PEN has developed this comprehensive customer privacy policy.

If you have questions or comments about our customer privacy policy or you would like to confirm the accuracy of the information collected from you, please contact If you have made a Group purchase or are an individual User, you may review and request changes to the information online at any time by going to the "My D@W" section.

The registration process for PEN gives subscribers the option of making a payment online, either by credit card, or by sending a group purchase order to generate an order. Our web pages and servers use current Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology that ensures that sensitive information, such as credit card information, is encrypted during transmission over the internet and cannot be intercepted and translated by a third party.

Your Credit card information is not permanently retained on our database. The record of the credit card number will be removed once we are notified that the transaction was successful.
