Bio:Dr. Reimer is a Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary and is a Registered Dietitian. She completed her PhD in Nutrition & Metabolism at the University of Alberta and a two- ear postdoctoral fellowship at the Nestle Research Centre in Switzerland. Dr. Reimer is an internationally recognized expert in the nutritional management of obesity. She is also on the cutting edge of research related to dietary manipulation of gut microbiota, which has gained recent attention in conditions that range from obesity to Crohn’s disease to autism to mood. Translating findings from animal models to human clinical trials is a key way in which Dr. Reimer spans bench to bedside discovery and application. Her ongoing clinical trials help take evidence-based findings into consumer application with new fibre-containing foods and dietary strategies to manage weight.
