Disease Etiology
Growth faltering (previously called failure to thrive) is a term used to describe a slower rate of weight gain in infants and children compared to others of similar age and sex (1). The term 'growth faltering' is now used to avoid the negative association with the word 'failure'.
Growth faltering can occur anytime during childhood, although it is most common during the first two to three years of life (2). It is considered a clinical syndrome, rather than
