Bio:Pat works in surgical care & with the adult cystic fibrosis clinic at London Health Sciences Centre. She has worked in a number of adult nutrition support areas including thoracic surgery since 1988 & has maintained CNSD status since 1992. Current projects include a prospective observational study in patients undergoing elective abdominal surgery ‘Glycemia & risk for wound complications in a general surgery population’. Intern research projects supervised by Pat have supported the use of closed enteral feeding systems, rationalized a unified home TPN program, introduced early oral feeding following bowel surgery with resultant decreased hospital stay & identified hyperglycemia as a risk factor for wound complications in general surgery patients. Pat authored the Esophageal Surgery chapter for the Manual of Clinical Dietetics, 6th Ed (2000). She obtained her undergraduate degree from UWO & interned at Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre.
