Bio:
Poonam completed her Masters in Dietetics from Glasgow Caledonian University. She began her dietetic career in 2005. After spending nine years in clinical positions in the NHS, Poonam continued her RD role, wearing many hats. In 2012, she began her private practice. Currently, Poonam works as a Gastroenterology Specialist Dietitian in her freelance Clinic- ‘Gut Care’ in Birmingham, UK. She focuses solely on providing guidance to patients with varied gastrointestinal conditions including IBS, IBD, coeliac disease, food intolerances, etc. She has been a speaker at the WM-BDA and other conferences. She also edited chapters for Upper- GI in the Manual of Dietetic Practice - the core dietetics education book for all dietetics courses in the UK. Poonam worked with NDR-UK to produce IBS leaflets for patient and dietitians. She was the expert adviser for the NICE - Ulcerative Colitis guidelines, 2013. Poonam co-authored the BDA IBS guidelines in 2012 and 2016.
