Osteoporosis is a chronic bone disease with nutritional implications for both prevention and treatment. 
Calcium and vitamin D are the cornerstones of nutritional treatment for osteoporosis and for osteoporosis prevention, although other dietary factors also play a role. Calcium is the predominant mineral in bone and is essential for healthy bone growth and maintenance. Vitamin D significantly increases bone mineral density and can help reduce the risk of fracture.
