Key findings and recommendations describe what is currently known about water (including tonic water), quinine and various micronutrients that have been investigated for a potential role in helping prevent or alleviate muscle cramps. 
In consultation with clients, the potential benefits and risks of micronutrient supplementation should be balanced against the negative impact of the cramps on the individual’s quality of life and activities of daily living.
