The nutrition assessment of an individual with sickle cell disease (SCD) may include the following parameters using NCP terminology in the table below.

Monitoring and Evaluation
Some of the indicators that were measured in the nutrition assessment can be repeated in the nutrition monitoring and evaluation step.

Anthropometric Measurements
  • Height/Length
  • Weight
  • Weight Change
  • BMI
  • Body Compartment Estimates (e.g. waist circumference, bone mineral density)
  • Growth Pattern
