Adults with a pressure injury who are at risk of being malnourished or are malnourished may need additional protein, energy and or fluids (1-3). Enteral or parenteral feeding may need to be considered if nutritional needs through oral intake cannot be met (3).
 
Nutrition screening can identify individuals at nutritional risk for pressure injuries and assist in referral to a dietitian for further assessment (2,3). Possible nutrition screening tools to be used include (3):
